| Faith OPC is a congregation
of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church, a denomination that is committed to
the principles of the Reformation.
Why are we are called Faith Orthodox
Presbyterian Church?
Faith:
The means by which a person becomes
a Christian. The sole object of saving faith is Jesus Christ, and it is
entirely a gift from God (Eph. 2:8).
Orthodox:
This word means “straight thinking.”
That is to say, we are committed to the faithful teaching of the Word of
God.
Presbyterian:
Presbyterianism is the most biblical
form of church government. Local churches are governed by ruling and teaching
elders, and assisted by deacons, who serve those who are in need. Regionally,
the Church is governed by a presbytery, and nationally by our General Assembly.
Church:
As God’s people, we are part of
his covenant community, called the Church. Our purpose is to “stir each
other up to love and good works” (Heb. 10:24), and to feed Christians
through the means that God has provided: the Bible (read and preached),
ministry, prayer, and the faithful administration of the Sacraments (baptism
and the Lord’s Supper). |
